Many consumers love Granny Smith and know it as the original sour apple. The dense flesh and tangy, acidic flavors make Granny Smith a powerhouse of flavors. Granny Smith is one of the most popular cooking apples in the United States, with sales peaking at Thanksgiving. It's flavors seem to be enhanced through cooking making it a popular choice for holiday pies, sauces and other apple treats.
